Two new features focused on aviation were recently added to our web page. The first is a paper describing the results of a study focused on east wind events at the Albuquerque Sunport and the Double Eagle Airport. The pdf version of the paper is available here. This study will be accessible via our Aviation page as well as our Local Research page.

Because the distribution of wind can have significant impacts on the aviation industry, we have produced monthly and annual wind roses for our seven TAF sites. Results for each period have been partitioned to represent different times of the day: early morning, afternoon, and night. To access wind rose data, click here, or go to our Aviation page.

Finally, a study addressing the effects of thermal inversions on the minimum temperature distribution across the Albuquerque Metro area was recently added to our Local Research page. This study was focused on the variability of minimum temperatures across the Albuquerque metro area on days with surface inversions present and related the variability to the strength and depth of the inversion.
