DRIEST WEATHER SO FAR THIS YEAR IN ATLANTA

The longest dry spell in Atlanta so far in 2003 has come to an end. Until rain fell at the official rain gauge at Hartsfield International Airport today (Thursday August 28), Atlanta had gone 14 consecutive days without rain. Prior to that dry spell, Atlanta had not seen a stretch of dry weather longer than 7 consecutive days since the beginning of the year. It was, in fact, the longest stretch of dry weather in almost a year. There was a dry spell that lasted 17 days back in 2002 from August 27 to September 12.

The outlook for the next 30 days calls for a weather pattern that should result in near normal rainfall across Georgia.
