MARCH-APRIL 2004 - DRIEST EVER IN PARTS OF GEORGIA

Much of Georgia continues to experience below-normal rainfall. The two-month period from March 1 to April 30 was the driest March through April period ever recorded at Athens and Macon...the 3rd driest at Columbus...and the 5th driest at Atlanta.

March-April rainfall totals...
Athens...
Total... 1.92 inches. Old record was 2.85 inches in 1921.
Macon...
Total... 2.14 inches. Old record was 2.39 inches in 1985.
Columbus...
Total... 3.70 inches. Driest March-April period was in 1967 with 2.26 inches.
Atlanta...
Total... 3.85 inches. Driest March-April period was in 1915 with 2.36 inches.
