May continued to be especially dry in the Athens area. While the 1.35 inches of rainfall Athens received during the month was not the lowest total rainfall for May (it ranked 13th... 0.11 inches in 1914 setting the record for driest May on record), it was only 34% of their normal 3.86 inches.
