Perspective on our Rainfall Deficit
Looking at January-June 2004

7/21/04

We continue to run a sizeable rainfall deficit across Georgia. For the year through July 20:
  • Atlanta... -9.43 inches
  • Athens... -13.74 inches
  • Columbus... -5.10 inches
  • Macon... -7.52 inches
To gain perspecive on how our rainfall deficit compares to the rest of the nation, data from the first six months of the year was collected and analyzed. The map below shows Georgia to be among the driest states in the country. The map also indicates Georgia has experienced 29 years with even drier weather.
