Fayette County Flash Flood
June 16-17, 2003

On the night of June 16, 2003 a damaging flash flood
event occurred in Fayette County (just south of Atlanta). On that night slow-moving thunderstorms dumped one
to three inches of rain across much of the southern portion of Metropolitan Atlanta.
However...a few locations received heavier amounts. One of these areas was the western part
of the City of Fayetteville. Significant flooding occurred between Pye Lake and Gingercake Creek.
Results can be seen below.
