The "Hurricane Hunters" in Peachtree City
May 26, 2007 The Air Force Reserve "Hurricane Hunters" (a.k.a. 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron) brought the hurricane-penetrating Lockheed-Martin WC-130J to Falcon Field in Peachtree City on Saturday May 26, 2007. The crew from the 403rd Wing, based at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi met with the public, and conducted tours of their aircraft. More than 600 people toured the aircraft while it was on display. Displays from the National Weather Service and River Forecast Center as well as the Emergency Operations Command from the American Red Cross were also on hand. The National Weather Service held an open house at their building on Falcon drive which attracted 290 visitors. The Carroll County Fire/Weather Safety house was also available to the public in the front parking lot.
