NEAR RECORD RAINFALL FOR MAY/JUNE 2003

...Second Wettest May/June Period on Record in Atlanta and Macon...
...Fourth Wettest May/June Period on Record in Columbus...

It was a very wet May and June in much of North and Middle Georgia. In fact, the official rainfall in Atlanta was 17.28 inches for the two-month period. This came within 0.06 inches of the all-time record.

Here are the top five rainfall totals for the 61-day period of May and June...

in Macon - it was the 2nd wettest ever recorded ( 9.77 versus the record of 9.91 in 1923 )
in Atlanta - it was the 10th wettest ever recorded ( 7.34 versus the record of 11.21 in 1912 )
