ActivityOpen House at National Weather Service
WhenSaturday, October 25th 2003...9 AM until 3 PM
WhereOur office is located near the main entrance to Falcon Field Airport in Peachtree City, some 25 miles south-southwest of downtown Atlanta. We are just off Dividend Drive which is just off State Highway 74. The street address is: 4 Falcon Drive.

From Interstate 85: go to the Peachtree City exit...turn east onto Highway 74 for a 10-minute drive to Peachtree City. From Highway 74, turn right onto TDK Blvd., and then turn left at the 4-way stop (Dividend Drive). On Dividend Dr., travel several hundred yards until reaching the entrance to Falcon Field (Falcon Drive). We are at the first building on the left.

From State Highway 85 Turn west at the intersection of 85 and 74. After a couple of miles, look for the large Cooper Lighting building on the left. There is a traffic signal there. Turn left at the NEXT traffic signal (Dividend Drive). That intersection is marked with a small green sign with an airplane. Cross the railroad tracks and turn left at the next intersection (Falcon Drive). We are the first building on the left.
PurposeTo bring a heightened awareness to the community on severe weather preparedness and river flooding preparedness.
ThemeA fun filled educational time in which information is provided to the general public through tours which will be offered every 15 minutes, various demonstrations (including an automated weather observing station), displays (including a weather balloon and groundwater flow model) and talks by National Weather Service and River Forecast Center staff members.
BackgroundWith the approach of our secondary severe weather season across Georgia, the education of the people across the state to the threats and hazards associated with severe weather and river flooding remain very important. Due to the continued migration of people into the southern sections of the United States, and specifically portions of Georgia, many people are not prepared for the different types of weather scenarios that can unfold across the local area. As we approach our secondary severe weather season that normally occurs during November and December, this is both an excellent time, as well as forum, to provide as much information to as many people as possible.
InvitationPlease join the National Weather Service and Southeast River Forecast Center staff in making this Open House a great success. We really need and appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you.
