Snow and Ice Visit North Georgia - January 16 - 17, 2008

The weather map on the morning of January 16, 2008 shows a low pressure system in the western Gulf of Mexico pushing rain toward a cold mass of air over Georgia.
By the time this low reached South Georgia on January 17,
the rain had changed to snow, sleet and freezing rain across much of northern Georgia. Shane Adams in Habersham County
reported almost 4 inches of snow and sent in the pictures below. Three to four inches was a common amount reported
from many of the northeast Georgia counties. Smaller amounts fell elsewhere.
