WILL ATLANTA SET ANOTHER RAINFALL RECORD?
June 19, 2003


The unusually heavy rains of May have persisted into June for some areas of the state. As of June 18, some locations were reporting amounts that were above normal by more than 5 inches. (see map below)

In Atlanta... it's already the 2nd wettest May / June period on record. The wettest consecutive months of May and June in any year occurred in 1991, when 17.34 inches fell. Through 5 pm June 19, there had been 15.90 inches recorded this year. Here are the top 4:
