Changes Coming to AHPS
Web Pages
More improvements are coming to the Advanced
Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS)! A software upgrade will
be conducted to the AHPS system on July 24th. Unfortunately
this means AHPS will have to go offline starting at 9am
CDT and will be down for several hours. However, you will
see several changes and enhancements afterward. Some of the highlights
include:
- Map Display: You will be able to choose between
displaying observed data (which is the current display setting)
and 48-hour forecast stages. (The points will continue to be color-coded
based on the flood status.) All area river forecast points, including
those in neighboring states and hydrologic service areas, will
also be plotted on the display.
- Precipitation Analysis: The precipitation analysis
display will be upgraded as part of a transition to "official"
status. More information will be available on a local level, and
will be available in a tab on the AHPS web site.
- GIS and RSS Enhancements: Forecast and observed
river stage information and precipitation analysis data will be
made available in a variety of GIS-friendly formats, including
KML,
shape files, and netCDF. RSS feeds will also be made available
for river information.
More complete information about the upcoming upgrade can be found
at the AHPS Phase
V User's Guide.
