National Weather Service Huntsville Website Changing on November 24th
Website Changes
On November 24th, the National Weather Service in Huntsville webpage will be moving to a new Content Management System (CMS) and a new web server. As part of the server move, our website will now be mirrored on multiple web servers. This redundancy should translate into a more reliable Internet presence for the National Weather Service in Huntsville. As part of the move to a CMS, there will be some cosmetic changes that may require a period of adjustment.
Update Bookmarks
Due to the way the CMS operates, the Internet address, or URL, of most local pages will change. Consequently, if you have saved bookmarks to specific pages on our website, those links may no longer work. And you will likely need to update your bookmarks at that time. Our main page will still be located at http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hun (and can also be accessed at http://www.weather.gov/huntsville).
As an example of how the web addresses will change, here is the current web address of our satellite page:
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hun/satellite.php
The new web address for our satellite page will be:
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hun/?n=satellite
Similarly, the webpages with current products from our office will no longer exist. For example, you can currently read our Area Forecast Discussion by going to this link:
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hun/productview.php?pil=afd&sid=hun&version=0
After the transition, you will need to follow this link:
http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=HUN&issuedby=HUN&product=AFD
