Rainfall for October, 2009 was excessive, similar to
the excessively wet Octobers of 2006 and 2002 in recent years. Most stations reported
over 200% of normal, based
on 1971-2000 normals. The maximum observed rainfall was in
Opelousas, LA with 19.38 inches, with Grand Coteau coming in second
at 17.97 inches. The bulk of the rainfall came during the first two
weeks, and successive storms on the 22nd, 26th, and 30th.
