A counter-clockwise circulation around Rita produced strong easterly winds
during the evening hours of the 24th/early on the 25th. Gusts over 50
mph were reported across the southeast half of Arkansas, with power
outages at more than 60,000 households. Some tree and power line damage
was reported as well. Below are some

As far as severe weather, there is usually a risk of
isolated tornadoes with hurricanes...and Rita was no exception. During
the afternoon of the 24th, several Tornado Warnings were issued for
counties in central and southern Arkansas. |

By daybreak on the 25th, the threat for severe weather had diminished in
Arkansas except for areas along the Mississippi River. |
