…Strong Storms Moved Across The Region Thursday Evening…
A line of powerful storms moved across the region Thursday evening. The line of storms entered extreme southeast Mississippi around 430 pm and swept quickly across southwest Alabama and the northwest Florida panhandle through 745 pm. Numerous thunderstorms lingered in the wake of the line over the northwest Florida panhandle and south central Alabama through the remainder of the evening hours. The main line of storms had a classic bow formation and downed trees and power lines and caused shingle damage across most of the area. Some of the trees fell on houses resulting in roof damage. Several out buildings and large chicken houses were also damaged. A couple of reports of nickel to quarter sized hail were also received. (Animated reflectivity) Torrential rains from the storms resulted in serious flooding of urban areas and poor drainage areas, mainly across extreme southwest Alabama.
