On August 19, Lufkin, Texas was officially
recognized by the Shreveport National Weather Service Office as
a StormReady Community. The presentation was made to Lufkin Mayor
Louis Bronaugh by Lee Harrison, Meteorologist-in-Charge at a City
Council meeting.

Being
a StormReady Community means that Lufkin has met a number of criteria
for the reception and dissemination of severe weather information
plus a community preparedness and severe weather operations plan
in place. Kenneth Williams, Director of Emergency Management for
Lufkin, was the person primarily responsible for insuring Lufkin
was ready for the StormReady program.
Lufkin
joins Longview and Nacogdoches as East Texas StormReady Communities.
In Louisiana, both Bossier and Caddo Parishes have been recognized
as StormReady Communities. If you are an Emergency Manager or
