WFO San Juan Cooperative Observer Appreciation Day

On Saturday, April 5 2008, the NWS Office in Carolina , Puerto Rico hosted a Cooperative Observer Appreciation Day in recognition of the many dedicated observers across the Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The event recognized the efforts and dedication of approximately 130 NWS Cooperative Observers. The day began with an in-depth tour of the facilities. This was followed with presentations by the WFO staff on the new WxCoder III as well as an explanation on how important their observations are to the mission of the WFO. All those that participated received awards for their dedication. Several of those that were honored received awards, in recognition of a job well done and time served. The day was sponsored not only by the WFO, but also by the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Agency.
