(June 6, 2012) - WFO Little Rock Senior Service Hydrologist Tabitha Clarke has been honored with a Federal Executive Association (FEA) Employee of the year Award in the scientific/medical category.
Presented by the director of the Arkansas Social Security Administration on May 23, the award recognizes her accomplishments during the historic 2011 Spring Floods. During that event, Clarke played a key role in getting the word out about a flooded stretch of heavily traveled Interstate 40 near Little Rock.
"She worked closely with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department to provide specific flood information to thousands of motorists via electronic signs along the highways," said Little Rock Meteorologist-in-Charge Renee Fair. "Civil emergency messages with flood advisories and detour information were also provided for travelers and residents in the affected area."
The Arkansas FEA is part of the Federal Executive Boards program, established by a Presidential Directive in 1961. With approximately 85 percent of federal employees working outside the U.S. Capitol, there was a clear need for establishing an effective forum for communication and collaboration among field representatives, departments and agencies throughout the country.
Established in major population centers, a network of 28 National Executive Boards serve as the cornerstone of strategic partnering in the federal Government. Each also serves as a parent organization the FEAs.
